It is with great sadness that I share the passing of my beloved mother, Brenda Jane Stevens, who left us on February 3rd, 2025 at 80 years old to be with her lord and savior. She was a woman of passion, humor, and kindness.

Brenda was born to Walter Luther Cook Jr. and Essie Warine Cook on April 8th, 1944 in Harrisburg, Arkansas. Brenda loved to cook, write and spend time with her family. Her family and friends were at the heart of everything she did. She came from a huge family on her mother's side. Brenda always had deep Christian faith and was involved in various church communities. Brenda spent many years as both a school teacher and professor, touching the lives of hundreds students. Most of all my mother was the most giving woman I knew. I feel that we were all privileged to have her in our lives.

She has lived in California with her close family for the last ten years. She spent her last days dancing to Elvis and the Beatles, reading, and keeping up with the Arkansas Razorbacks. She was a small woman who had big, vivacious spirit, lighting up every room she was in.

She leaves her daughter, Stephanie Stevens-Brock, son-in-law Andrew Brock, granddaughters Rowan Biggs and Briana Nettles-Biggs and many relatives, all of whom loved her very much. She was preceded  by her mother and father, Essie Warine Cook and Walter Luther Cook Jr. and her two brothers Danny Roscoe Cook and W.L. Cook III.

Funeral services are set for Saturday, February 15, 2025, at noon, at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, with Nathan Tartt officiating.  Friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday morning, 10:00 a.m. till service time.  Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
