Brenda
Dacus
July 3, 1941 – April 5, 2026
Gregg-Langford-Bookout Funeral Home
4:00 - 6:00 pm (Central time)
Brenda Dacus of Jonesboro departed this life on Sunday April 5, 2026 at the age of 84. She was born on July 31, 1941 in Conway to Dale and Mildred Ingram.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband, Fred, of 62 years; three children, Stan (Amy Dacus, Leslie (John) Gay, and Laura Dacus Daniels; ten grandchildren, Alec (Erin) Dacus, Riley (Rebecca) McKee, Ellis Dacus, Sam Dacus, Zach (Samantha) Hatley, Heather (Michael) Poppy, John (Sara) Gay, Matthew Carson Gay, Drew Daniels, and Lindsay Daniels; seven great grandchildren, and her beloved siblings Barbara Haynes, Gary (Molly) Ingram and Beverly Benton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one great grandchild.
Brenda graduated from Conway High School and then attended Hendrix College where she studied and obtained a degree in Art. It was at Hendrix that she would meet the love of her life and shortly after a very romantic proposal at a red light on a drive home from a date, she and Fred were married in the little chapel on campus. She loved to share that she couldn’t afford the fancy pillbox hats that were popular with brides and proceeded to make her own out of a cardboard oatmeal canister and covered it in satin and pearls.
While raising their young children, Brenda taught MacArther Junior High School in Jonesboro. In 1974 she and Fred took a leap of faith and started their own real estate company together, Fred Dacus and Associates. It was her fierce competitive nature and sheer determination to succeed that would be the driving force behind FDA’s 42 years as one of the top producing real estate companies in Northeast Arkansas.
Brenda loved to travel. She has a passion for researching the best reviewed restaurants to try in any destination they were traveling to. She took each of her grandchildren on special “one on one” trips to see New York City when they turned 16 and took her two youngest grands to see Disney. She loved music, dancing, and going to concerts. She was an excellent cook and especially enjoying preparing elaborate meals to share with her family. She loved time spent with Fred at the beach and loved watching the sunsets together. She also enjoyed a good crossword puzzle every day. Brenda was an avid Arkansas Razorback Fan.
Above all, Brenda’s ultimate joy came from spending time with her family.
Visitation will be on Thursday April 9, 2026, from 4-6 pm at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be private.
