Bobby Joe
Brooks
March 25, 1948 – May 22, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and great love that we announce the passing of a devoted husband, father, pepaw, veteran, and friend whose life was defined by faith, family, patriotism, and the great outdoors. Bobby Joe Brooks passed away peacefully on Friday, May 22, 2026, surrounded by the people he loved most, leaving behind a legacy of strength, honor, and unwavering love.
Bobby was born March 25, 1948 in Dalton to the late Charley and Notra McCandless Brooks. He was a proud American who answered the call to serve his country during the Vietnam War with courage and sacrifice. His years in the military shaped the man he became — resilient, loyal, and deeply appreciative of the freedoms he fought to protect. He carried his love for America throughout his life and never missed an opportunity to proudly fly the flag, honor fellow veterans, or share stories of service and brotherhood.
Outside of his service, he found his greatest peace in nature. Whether sitting quietly in a deer stand at sunrise or casting a fishing line across the calm water, hunting and fishing were more than hobbies to him — they were traditions, lessons, and memories he cherished passing down to those he loved.
Above all else, his family was the center of his world. He is survived by his wife Ginger Prosser Brooks; son, Craig (Brandy) Brooks; daughter, Wendy Brooks; grandchildren, Macie Brooks (Lane Looney) and Allie Brooks; great grandson, Boone Riggs Looney; and many other relatives and friends.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Notra Brooks; and by his siblings, Bill Brooks, Willard Brooks, Gene Brooks, and Verna Poole.
He was a steady source of wisdom, protection, laughter, and unconditional love. He treasured every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and loved ones, teaching them the values of hard work, respect, faith, and kindness through both words and example.
He will be remembered for his warm heart, quiet strength, and the way he made everyone feel welcome. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the country he proudly served.
May he rest peacefully, reunited with those who went before him, beneath eternal skies and still waters.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at St. Paul Cemetery with Jerry Cochran officiating under direction of McNabb Funeral Home.
