Monette- Blonda Jane Spikes, 86, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018 at St. Bernards Medical Center.
She was born June 28, 1931 in Leachville to the late Homer "Dolf" and Margaret Peebles Croom. She was a home manager raising three boys and a girl, putting three meals on the table every day and helping her husband on the farm as needed. Mrs. Jane was an avid reader who loved crossword puzzles and reading her bible every day. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing and spending time with her family. She was a longtime member of the Monette First Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Terry and Tammy Spikes of Monette, Craig and Dwana Spikes of Broken Arrow, OK, Brad and Stacey Spikes of Danville and Debbie and Steve Shelton of Manila; a sister-in-law, Clara "Bee" Croom of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren, Matthew Spikes of Broken Arrow, Brian Spikes (Maddison) of Oklahoma City, Jonathan Spikes (Kaitlin) of Springdale, Jenna Barnhart (Gabe) of Conway, Jeffrey Spikes of Russellville, Chad Shelton (Stacey) , Maegan Hill (Stephen) and Chase Shelton (Paige) all of Manila; nine great-grandchildren, Kailen, Kinley and Kacey Jo, Harper, Hayes, Merritt, Kasen, Reese and Molly.
She is also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lavell Spikes; two brothers, Leon Croom and Tom Croom; an infant sister, Jimmie Lou Croom and a sister-in-law, Laura Croom McDaniel.
A celebration of her life will be 10:00 am Monday, April 30, 2018 at Monette First Baptist Church with Rev. Rusty Bird officiating. Interment will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 pm Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Gregg Funeral Home at 18878 Hwy 18 in Monette.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are her grandsons, Matthew Spikes, Brian Spikes, Jonathan Spikes, Jeffrey Spikes, Chad Shelton and Chase Shelton.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Monette First Baptist Church or Arkansas Baptist Children's Home.
