Jonesboro - Billy Leroy West, 75, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021 at University Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock.

He was born May 6, 1946 in McCormick to the late Ray and Geneva Hooker West. Billy retired from Craighead County Road Department where he was a mechanic and a licensed welder. He enjoyed fishing, building, working with metal and had built stock and hot rod cars. He liked to travel and study the history of Northeast Arkansas New Madrid Seismic Zone. He loved spending time with his grandsons. Mr. West was a member of the Valley View Church of Christ.

He was survived by his wife of twenty-one years, Jean West; his children, Dr. Jami West (Ed Belly), Billy West (Gina) and Bobby West all of Jonesboro; step-daughters, Rise Rothe (Wesley) of Jonesboro and Cheryl McClurg of Memphis; a sister, Carolyn Watkins (Terrel) of Jonesboro and grandchildren, Davis Natividad West (Nate), Kaitlyn Brodell (Anthony), Jacob West, Bryan Hall and Montana Hall.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ouida West and a brother, Ronnie West.

There will be no visitation.

A graveside service will be 10:00 am Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Pine Hill Cemetery with Spencer Furby officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. The family asks for masks to be properly worn.
