Jonesboro- Billy Gray Tackett, 85, departed this life Friday, March 1, 2019, at his home in Jonesboro.

He was born July 24, 1933 in Newport, the son of the late George Wayne Tackett and Bertha Dean Woody Tackett.

Billy was a retired truck driver for the Craighead County Road department. He enjoyed many years of singing with his band and also loved to garden and spend time outdoors.

He is survived by two sons, Lynn Tackett (Sabrina) of Jonesboro and Billy Tackett of Dalton; one daughter, Deana Barker (Doug) of Jonesboro; one sister, Mary Joan Allen (Lloyd) of Mountain View; the mother of his children, Bernice Marie Stamp of Dalton; four grandchildren, Josh Barker, Summer Tyson, Johnny Tackett and Uriah Tackett and six great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, George and Bertha Tackett, he was preceded in death by siblings, Thelma May Archer, Jessie Pennington and Eutah Carl Tackett, and also by his loving companion, Patsy Moss.

Funeral services are set for 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at the Gregg Langford-Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stan Ballard officiating. Interment will follow in Nettleton Cemetery.

Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. till service time.

Pallbearers will include Jerry Allison, Jerry Jones, Johnny Tackett, Andrew Tackett, John May and Josh Barker.
