Mr. Billy Joe Newcomb of Harrisburg, departed this life Friday, October 6, 2017, in Memphis, TN, at the age of 77.
He was born March 1, 1940 in Tyronza, Arkansas, the son of the late Lavell Newcomb and Ruth Bivens Newcomb.
Billy was a retired truck driver with over 47 years of experience. He enjoyed woodworking and yardwork and loved tractors. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He married Joyce Isbell on May 16, 1959 and they enjoyed 58 years together. He loved spending time with his family and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George Newcomb.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Newcomb of the home, one son, Greg Newcomb (Diana) of Hardy, two brothers, Jerry Newcomb of Greenbrier and Phillip Newcomb (Angie) of Jonesboro, two sisters, Carolyn Richards and Kay Tedder, both of Jonesboro, and many, many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is scheduled for Monday, October 9, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Lewis officiating. Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday, 10:00-11:00 a.m.
