Monette- Billy Gerald Hawkins, 85, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2023.

Bill was born August 17, 1937 in Pawheen to Jason and Freda Kennedy Hawkins. Bill loved life and was loved by many. He is best remembered as being the loudest in a gymnasium. His favorite things were attending church, his family, work and being with his close friends.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia Woodsmall Hawkins; his sons, Royce Gerald Hawkins, Billy Jay Hawkins and Tony Leo Hawkins; grandchildren, Wes, Chelsea, Kaley, Jaycee, Amber and Kerra; eleven great-grandchildren. Another great-grandson was born on the day Bill passed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, J. C. and Snowden; a sister, Lavice Robbins and a grandson, Chris Hawkins.

In memory of… his best friends, Johnny Boyd, Ray Kirkland, Ralph Wells, Damon Laffoon and Buddy Thweatt.

A celebration of his life will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 21, 2023 at Monette Church of Christ with Josh Parnell officiating. Interment will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are his nephews, Cole Hawkins, Eddie Robbins and David Robbins, also Kevin Baldridge, Byron Sparkman and his grandson, Wes Hawkins.

Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters who were precious to him, Chelsea Bettis, Kaley Sanders, Jaycee Hawkins, Amber Thompson and Kerra Pilgrim. In addition, all his beloved brothers and sisters at the Monette Church of Christ.
