Jonesboro- Billy Joe Harris, 80, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at St. Bernards Medical Center.
He was born December 20, 1936 in Paragould to the late Bill and Thelma Harris. Bill graduated from Paragould High School in 1955. He penned an essay on "Selling as a career" and won first place in national finals. Mr. Harris was in electronic sales. He enjoyed rebuilding street rods and antique cars. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren very much. He was devoted to his church, St. Paul United Methodist Church and started a college scholarship program there.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Harris; two sons and their wives, Scott and Donita Harris and Drew and Stephanie Harris all of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Emily McKinney, Anna Harris and Noah Willbanks; a sister, Gladys Mercer of Oakley California and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017 at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
