Monette - Billy Owen Gipson, 86, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016 at his residence.
He was born November 26, 1930 in Hancock, to the late Manuel and Lura Adams Gipson.
Farmed all his life in the Hancock area and proudly served his country in the U.S Army. He was an Arkansas State Representative District 92 for six years, former justice of the peace for Craighead County, he served as the former president on the Buffalo Island Regional Water Board for many years and worked for the Arkansas State Revenue office in Little Rock for over six years. He was an active member of Milligan Ridge Missionary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and was a song leader.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Geraldine Reams Gipson of the home; two sons, Kent Gipson and his wife Tammy of Monette and Danny Gipson and his wife Melinda of Osceola; a daughter, Sharon Euler of Poplar Bluff, Mo; a sister, Patsy Fleetwood of Caraway; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, George Gipson.
A celebration of his life will be 11:00 am Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Milligan Ridge Missionary Baptist Church (CR 49, Caraway) with Pastor Mike Coven officiating. Interment will follow at Caraway Cemetery. Gregg Funeral Home of Monette is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 am Tuesday at the Church.
