Mr. Billy Wayne Carter, of Paragould, formerly of Harrisburg, departed this life Saturday, October 24, 2020, at his home, at the age of 74.
He was born December 10, 1945 in Tuckerman, Arkansas, the son of the late Marvin Edward Carter and Edith Viola Baney Carter. Billy married Mary Ruth Halford on August 15, 1964 and they enjoyed 37 years together until her death in 2001. He worked several years for the Harrisburg School District at the Bus Shop and drove a school bus. He later began working for Poinsett County Road Department and was a road grader operator. Billy enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and family. He also enjoyed singing. Billy was of the Pentecostal faith.
He is survived by two daughters, Kim Trujillo (Santo) of Paragould and Mary Jane Carter (Cynthia) of Pocahontas, four sons, Ricky Carter of Harrisburg, Randy Carter (Vicky) of Maynard, Andy Carter of Carlsbad, NM and Anthony Carter of Batesville, AR, one brother, Charles Carter of Marked Tree, one sister, Linda Thomas of Trumann, nineteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services are set for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Strangers Home Cemetery at Alicia.
Friends may visit at the funeral home Monday evening, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Those serving as pallbearers will be Randy Carter, Jr., Robert Carter, Billy Carter, Dontreal Lawson, David Richards and Jason Browder.
