Harrisburg, Billie Onita "Nita" Dunham, 96, passed away January 31, 2024.
She was born November 8, 1927 to the late Leighton and Edna Holmes in Paul Switch, she was the oldest of her four siblings. She was all about her family and loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren. She was an avid Hollywood fan and loved the old cowboys and Indian movies as well as old war movies that took her back to her youth. Being the wife of a P.O.W. in World War II she often recounted the times of doubt and worry and eventually happiness to find out her husband would be returning home safely. She loved animals, music, movies, visiting with family and friends and traveling. She was a baptized member of the Baptist faith and loved her Woodbriar Nursing Home family. She often joked and teased with them playfully. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and playful nature.
She is survived by her daughters, Charlene Ford (Tom), Sue Kelley (Jim) and Lynn Dunham; son, Skip Dunham (Tammy); seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
Nita was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Dunham Sr; two daughters, Karen and Sharon; a brother, Edward "Bud" Holmes and sister, Barbra Marshall; two grandsons, Jake Ford and Logan Hay.
Visitation will be from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Gregg-Weston Funeral Home.
