Jonesboro- Billie Jean Bryant, 88, passed on from this life on Saturday, November 14, 2015. She was born October 7, 1927 in Harrisburg to the late Thomas and Mildred Rorex. She was a 1946 graduate of Harrisburg High School. In 1947 she married Jack E. Bryant, also of Harrisburg and they made their home in Jonesboro. Billie worked as a library aide for Jonesboro Public Schools for 37 years. She has been a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church since 1956, where she was very active with children's ministries, teaching Sunday school for over 40 years. She touched the lives of many people with her love, kindheartedness and compassion. Billie is also preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Jack E. Bryant; three brothers, James Rorex, Charles Rorex and Thomas Rorex; two sisters, Greta Sutterfield and Myra Phillips. Billie is survived by her children, Lana Province, Dinah Rushing (Jimmie) and Marty Bryant (Vanessa) all of Jonesboro; a brother, Bobby Rorex of Iowa City, Iowa; five grandchildren, Bryant Rushing (Jennifer), Mikcca Craft (Kevin), Lesli Province, Lance Province (Hannah) and Kyle Bryant (Symathia); five great-grandchildren, Gavin Bryant, Aiden Bryant, Lillie Craft, Lucie Craft and Ethan Province. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Walnut Street Baptist Church with Dr. Glen Putman and Rev. Jerry Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jim Ellis, Bryant Rushing, Kyle Bryant, Lance Province, Kevin Craft and Joe Pierce and as honorary pallbearers, the Catherine Edgars Sunday School Class. Lasting memorials may be sent to Walnut Street Baptist Church Children's Ministry Programs.
