Jonesboro - Bill Duncan, 89, passed away Monday, January 10, 2022 at St. Bernards Medical Center.
He was born November 23, 1932 in Jonesboro to the late Hubert and Della Goodman Duncan. Bill served his country proudly in the United States Navy for 4 years. He then served in the United States Army Reserves for 36 years. Bill's rank at retirement was Chief Warrant Officer 4. Bill also retired after 31 years with The Civil Service. Bill enjoyed woodworking and loved to build furniture. He was a faithful member of Philadelphia Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Bill enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing for crappie.
He is survived by the love of his life, Barbara Witt Duncan, whom he was married to for almost 66 years; his children, Rowanne Veal (Phil) and Brian Duncan (Teressa), whom he loved and cherished; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, Jason Veal (Jami), Amie Lincoln (Dan), Brady Duncan, Tanner Duncan (Lauren), Garrett, Cashton, Taylor, and Bader who were the apple of his eye.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Earl Duncan and two sisters, Lola Hinson and Norma Hinson.
A celebration of his life will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday January 18, 2022 at Gregg Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Rodney Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home. The family kindly requests that masks be worn while in the building.
Pallbearers will be Jason Veal, Brady Duncan, Tanner Duncan, Garrett Veal, Dan Lincoln, and Scott Arender.
