\tMonette- Betty Jane Thompson, 81, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.She was born April 14, 1932 at Monette to the late James and Augusta Ramsey Chipman. Ms. Betty worked for several years as a beautician, and at Dr. Harper's Clinic in Monette and for circuit clerk in Lake City until retirement. After retirement she worked and volunteered at the Kohn Library in Monette. She was a member of the Monette United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading, traveling and sewing. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Deborah and Dean McDonald of Heber Springs, Rusty and Beth Thompson and Keith and Rhonda Thompson all of Monette; a brother and his wife, Charles and Mary Chipman of Steelville, Missouri; six grandchildren, Wade Gathright, Micah Thompson, Julie Thompson, Michael McDonald (Dana), Marc McDonald (Donna) and Dana McDonald Hodges; three great-grandchildren, Kylie Gathright, Hannah Hodges and Jacob McDonald. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Estel Thompson; a sister, Wanda Hope Majors. Service will be Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Monette United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Reed. Burial will be at the Monette Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette. The visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Bill Craig, Rusty Craig, Dennis Cobb, Drake Cobb, Ed Majors and J.C. Majors Jr. and as honorary pallbearers, Sam Thompson, Rick Thompson, Dale Albert, Charlotte Sharp, Mike Chipman, Randy Chipman, Terry Chipman and Patrick Chipman. Lasting memorials may be sent to Monette United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 95, Monette, AR 72447 or Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House or a charity of your choosing. \t
