Obituary

Leachville- Betty Jean Wright Taylor, age 95, was born on May 24, 1929, in Leachville, Arkansas, to the late Robert Ed and Hazel Moore Wright. She peacefully passed away on May 5, 2025.

She was the beloved wife of C.A (Kickie) Taylor for 40 years, having married in 1946. Betty is survived by her daughter Regina (Robin) Welch of Leachville; her sister Mildred Higgins of St. Louis, MO; and her grandchildren Leslie (Mark) Strubbe of Cape Coral, Florida, Brian (Amanda) Welch of Benton, Gerri (Mark) Taylor of Mountain Home, Jeff Taylor of Paragould, Melissa (Heath) Donner of Manila, and Chris Taylor of Leachville. Her great-grandchildren Emma, Cooper, Cassidy, Bailey, Billy, Dalton, Madison, Caitlin, Easton, and Zeke will also cherish her memory.

Betty was preceded in death by three children, Linda Jean Taylor, Eddie Eugene Taylor, and Jerry Dwight Taylor, as well as eight siblings: Weldon Wright, Wilborn Wright, Madelyn Bridges, Edith Taylor, Francis Duncan, Edna Melrose, Melba Mounce, and Doris Robertson.

A lifelong member of Cockrum Church of Christ, Betty actively taught classes and assisted in church activities and functions. She led her family and friends by example through her consistent presence at church. She was renowned for her culinary skills, known especially for her heavenly hash cakes, fresh apple cake, strawberry pies, turkey and dressing, and dumplings—dishes that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Betty's love for gardening was evident in her vibrant flower beds and her dedication to canning and freezing fresh foods for her family. She loved traveling and enjoyed cruises and trips to various destinations including Alaska, the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, Branson, and especially St. Louis, where her family resided.

Professionally, Betty worked for 25 years at the Brown Shoe Factory in Leachville, from its opening until its closure. At the age of 55, she pursued further education to become a Certified Nursing Assistant and later a Licensed Practical Nurse, working until she was 73 years old. Her nursing career included dedicated service at Lane's Nursing Home in Monette and Caraway, and Manila Nursing Home, where she formed many lifelong friendships.

The visitation will be held Thursday May 8, 2025 at Monette Church of Christ from 11- 12 PM. A funeral service to celebrate her life will follow at 12 PM with Eddie Dunnigan officiating. She will be laid to rest in Macey Cemetery in Monette, AR

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jeff Taylor, Chris Taylor, Heath Donner, Brian Welch, Jamie Strickland, and Dilynn Strickland.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Children's Home in Paragould, AR.
