Bono- Betty Lou Statler, 89, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at NEA Baptist Hospital.
She was born September 21, 1929 in Black Oak to the late William and Dona Moore Vaughn. She retired after owning and operating a Beauty Shop for twenty-five years in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Mrs. Betty helped to start a handicap school in Portia and Pocahontas and was active in Special Education Children. She enjoyed flowers, knitting, crocheting and reading. She was also active in her church, Bono United Methodist Church.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Rhodes Statler; sisters, Bunis Montgomery, Essie Phipps and Mary Ruth Wilson and four brothers, Willis Vaughn, Rubble Vaughn, Marvin Vaughn and Carlton Vaughn.
She is survived by her children, W. Fox Statler of Salem, Katherine Bernardon (Ron) of Aquilla, Indiana and Judy Statler of Bono; a sister, Imogene Johnson (John) of Hoxie; a brother, L.E. Vaughn (Nila) of Ash Flat; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm Friday, February 22, 2019 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Thomas Dillinger officiating. Interment will follow at Markham Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from noon until time of service Friday at the funeral home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are her nephews and great-nephews.
