Obituary

Jonesboro- Betty Ann Pope, 80, passed away Friday, August 2, 2013 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born on February 12, 1933 at Clover Bend to the late William Harvey Jean and Mary Brady Jean. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church. Mrs. Pope retired after thirty years with General Electric Company. She enjoyed reading, working in the yard, puzzles, painting and sewing. She was the center of her loving and big family. She is survived by her children and their spouses, J. Glynn and Julia Pope of Olive Branch, Mississippi, Debby and Dewey Burkhart of Jonesboro and Barbara and Keith Gatlin of Denton, Texas; a sister, Alda Ramsey of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Krystal McKay, Rebecca Leavitt, Andrea Andrews, Jonathan DeRoeck, Laura Gatlin and Ashley Gatlin; six great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Delphard Lee Pope; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Tanner; two brothers, Bill Jean and Bob Jean. A celebration of her life will be 10:00 am, Monday, August 5, 2013 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Bend Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 pm, Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home, 300 W. Matthews Ave. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jonathan DeRoeck, Randy Tennison, Bob McKay, Charles Tanner, Roger Jean and David Jean. Lasting memorials may be sent to Central Baptist Church Building Fund.
