Obituary

Betty Jo Hufstedler, 89, of Pocahontas passed away Monday, January 5, 2026 at Five Rivers Hospital in Pocahontas surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born December 28, 1936 in Pocahontas to the late Andrew and Grace Blackwell. Betty married Dale Hufstedler in 1959 at the old Waddle Store.

Betty and Dale raised their family in the Noland community and attended Noland Church of Christ. They lived a good life in the country surrounded by family and friends where they enjoyed having farm animals and raising a big garden. Betty canned much of their food, sewed for her family, and worked hard during her life, plus she was a woman with a great sense of humor and a huge heart. To know her is to love her.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; daughter, Marla; newborn son, Larry; brothers, Floyd, Loyd, Bill and Harold Blackwell; sisters, Lola McManners, Trula Hand, and Doris Slayton; sisters in law, Billie Smith and Maxine Rook; and brother in law, Sherrill Hufstedler.

Betty is survived by her loving children, Betty Massey, Roger Hufstedler, Ginger Hufstedler, Becky Hufstedler, and Jessica (Jacob) Duncan; 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, one great great great grandson; sister in law, Marilyn Blackwell; and many nieces and nephews which she loved so much.

Betty loved her family and always looked forward to their Blackwell Reunion each year.

Betty never met a stranger, welcomed everyone in her home, and always loved a visit from her friends or her children’s friends. She always made room for everyone in her home and in her heart. Betty will be remembered always, forever loved, and greatly missed.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 12-2 PM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 2 PM with Joshua Dement officiating. Burial will follow in the Hufstedler-Noland Cemetery.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Daniel and Nick Massey, James and Jacob Pipkin, Mickey Tyler, and Tom Hand.
