Lake City- Betty Elizabeth Henry, 92, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020 at Lakeside Nursing Center.
She was born June 30, 1928 in Black Oak to the late Tom and Maude McClish Roe. She was a caregiver, she raised her children and had owned Betty's Drive Inn at Black Oak for many years and then worked at Monette Nursing Home, Lakeside Nursing Home and Vera's Caf in Black Oak. Mrs. Henry worked well into her 80's, she enjoyed gardening, feeding birds, and flea markets "finding a good deal". She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hershell "Snooks" Caldwell and Earl Henry; two daughters, Margaret Dawson and Lynette Huntley; granddaughter, Lisa McFall; a great-granddaughter, Savannah Coker and thirteen brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children, Glenda Martin, Becky Maple and Bud Caldwell (Carolyn) all of Lake City; a sister, Etha Spurlock of Texas; eleven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be 12:00 pm noon, Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Monette Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are John Atkinson, Brian Wells, Michael George, Donnie Hooks and David Harris.
All attendees must wear masks and observe social distancing guidelines.
