Betty Hogan Fields passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019 surrounded by her family after a battle with dementia and a pulmonary embolism.

Betty was born on October 16, 1938 to James Edward and Edith Ruth (Johnson) Odum in Creal Springs, IL. After graduating from Crab Orchard High School in 1956, she moved to St. Louis to work in secretarial work. She met her first husband in St. Louis and after living in several states, they made their home in Pocahontas, Arkansas.

Betty attended nursing school and received her Licensed Practical Nurse degree on October 20, 1965. She worked at Randolph County Hospital and then became a nurse for Dr. William Scott and Dr. Hal Barre, where she became known as the best shot giver in town. She continued that career for 30+ years until her retirement in 2000.

Betty married Glen Fields on March 16, 1998 and moved to a farm in Myrtle, MO where they resided for 21 years. They enjoyed hunting and traveling together.

Betty was an avid bowler. She loved being on a league and attending bowling tournaments. Betty was active in her children and grandchildren's lives attending their sporting, musical, and/or any events they participated in. She enjoyed traveling with her friends to the casinos and touring the United States on bus tours. She also loved spending time at the lake during the summer where many memories were made. But her biggest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed. She was a Baptist by faith.
