Obituary

Betty Louvetta Bounds, 96, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born March 6, 1930 in the Hamil community to the late Mark and Maggie Hawk Vermilye. Betty was a homemaker and had worked for TRW Cinch. She found great joy in raising and caring for her chickens, sewing, gardening, canning, and fishing. She a member of the Brakebill Church of Christ.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Maggie Vermilye; husband of 75 years, I.M. “Slim” Bounds; grandson, Michael Wayne Segraves; great-granddaughter, Emma Steele; sons-in-law, Philip Buddy Rawlings and Larry Spencer; brother, Dallas “Bud” Vermilye; and sisters, Wilma Staten, Nelva “Neb” Griggs, and Laquita Davison.

Betty is survived by her son, Steve (Charlotte) Bounds of Warm Springs; daughters, Regina (Doug) Steele, Pat Rawlings, and Barbara (Ric) Dowler all of Poyner, MO, Janet Jones of Maynard, and Shelly (Johnny) Segraves of Pocahontas; eleven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, October 5, 2026 from 1-2 PM in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 2 PM with Joshua Dement officiating. Burial will follow in Brakebill Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Lynn Steele, Tim Jones, Josh Rawlings, Jon Rawlings, Jake Dowler, and Jordan Segraves.
