Obituary
Jonesboro- Betty June Bell, 88, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017 at St. Bernards Medical Center.
Mrs. Bell was born June 22, 1928 in Walcott to the late Stanley "Jack" Williams and Bertha L. Pillow Williams. She was a member of the 1946 class of Jonesboro High School and was chosen as a member of the homecoming court. She attended Arkansas State College where she was a charter member of Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after more than 30 years and was a lifelong member of the Telephone Pioneers. Mrs. Bell was a member of the Fisher Street United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and friend to many.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Atwood James "Buddy" Bell Sr.; a sister, Ann Cushing of Lake Oswego, OR; her children, Cynthia Holifield (Cecil) of Jonesboro, Barbara Messier (Will) of Saratoga Springs, New York, Jennifer Cates (Mark) of Jonesboro and Atwood James "Pat" Bell Jr of Temple, Texas; seven grandchildren, Robert Atwood Holifield (Katherine) of Washington, DC, Emily Holifield LaLone (Keith) of Glens Falls, New York, Gabrielle Ann Messier of Lake Station, Indiana, Alexandra Frances Messier, Abigail Betty Messier and Wilfred Paul Messier III all of Saratoga Springs and Aaron Samuel Bell II (Alley) of Little Rock; four great-grandchildren, Cecil Atwood LaLone, John Atwood Holifield, James Billimack Holifield and Derek Charles Anteau.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Williams and Gene Williams.
A celebration of her life will be at 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Fisher Street United Methodist Church will Rev. Paul Horner officiating. Private burial under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends after the service, Thursday until 5:00 pm at the church.
