Jonesboro- Bertha Belle Wiley, 94, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born on May 21, 1918 in Somerville, Tennessee to the late John and Nannie Price. Mrs. Wiley retired after 32 years from Sears Roebuck Co. as manger of Catalog Department. She enjoyed working the United Methodist Women, serving as President for four years and treasurer for four years and enjoyed Church Bible Studies. She enjoyed traveling, volunteering and visiting family. She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Brenda and Larry Martin of Chesapeake, VA; two granddaughters and their husbands, LeMaura and Paul DiPietro of Huntersville, NC and Lora Dawn and Michael Plante of Chesapeake; a brother and his wife, Joel and Carol Price of Atlanta, GA; a sister and her husband, Franceline and O.R. Trotter of Jonesboro; five great-grandchildren, Todd A. Lee, Curtis DiPietro, Joseph DiPietro, Lora K. Plante and Michael C. Plante; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Wiley; a grandson, Todd Martin and two sisters, Orilla Pryor and Morine Avery. A celebration of her life will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Cornerstone United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Hemund and Rev. Jeanne Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home. Visitation will be from1:00 pm until time of service at the church. Honored to serve as pallbearers are men of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church and as honorary pallbearers the Friendship Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women Group.
