Monette - Mrs. Bertha Walker Sparkman, 94, departed this life Monday, July 14, 2014, at her daughter\u0027s home in Auburn Hills, Michigan. She was born December 29, 1919 in Cherry Valley, the daughter of the late Henry Duke and Mary Jane Banton Duke. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God. She loved to quilt and cook and was often called the world\u0027s greatest cook and baker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Lee Henry Walker and Bill Sparkman and five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Audrey and Charles Taylor of Auburn Hills, MI; a son and his wife, Jimmy and Marla Walker of Waterford, MI, two daughters-in-law, Linda Walker of Fayette, AL and Debra Walker of Pontiac, MI, and many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Shawn McElhannon and Rev. Terry Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Nettleton Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Friday, 4:00-8:00 p.m.
