Obituary

Jonesboro- Beno Nicholas Muyres, 95, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2016 at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born December 6, 1920 in Engelberg to the late Joseph and Theresa Liebhaber Muyres. They moved to Bay in 1925. Beno joined the United States Coast Guard in 1942 and served four years in New Orleans, Louisiana, Freeport and Houston, Texas. After his discharge he learned automobile body and repair and worked for Jelks Auto Dealership for over 20 years and also Jonesboro Auto Parts. He married Edith Humphrey of Jonesboro in June of 1949 and were blessed with over 60 years together. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and was president of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Jonesboro from 1979 until 1981. He loved to fish and he and his wife, were avid Brooklyn-Los Angeles Dodgers baseball fans and even went to California to see them play. He also enjoyed watching the Nettleton Raiders and the Razorbacks. He is survived by a brother, Johnny Muyres of Taylor, Texas, a special cousin, Ginger Brooks of Pocahontas and numerous cousins in northeast Arkansas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith and a sister, Ann Margaret Muyres Burton. A special thanks to his caregivers, Dan Elliot and Debra Williams. A funeral mass will be 10:30 am Friday, July 8, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Alphonse Gollapalli officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery under the direction of Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Doug Baltz, Bill DeClerk, Johnny Allen, Perry Osborn, Dakota Allen and Gage Allen and as honorary pallbearer, Bobby Brooks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Blessed Sacrament Ladies Society.
