Obituary

Jonesboro- Bennie G. "Glen" Burns, 85, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2018, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 29, 1932, in Alicia to the late Albert and Amy Rice Burns. He was a lifelong self-employed carpenter. He proudly served in the United States Army and Arkansas National Guard. His guard unit was one of the units sent to Little Rock during the integration crisis in 1957.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Billie Burns; his children, Sherry Bobbitt (Jerry) of Bay, Barry Burns of North Little Rock and Tim Burns of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Kelli Merryman (Drew) of Jonesboro, Jonathan Bobbitt (Ashley) of Bay, Tom Burns (Ashley) of Gravel Ridge and Randi Burns (Cody Baugh) of Bono; great-grandchildren- Gavin Bobbitt, Gabby Bobbitt, Logan Bobbitt, Eli Merryman, Isaac Merryman, Kinleigh Burns and Bryleigh Burns; a great-granddaughter on the way, Gentry Rose Baugh.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Burns and Joe Burns.

A celebration of his life will be 2:00 Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Webb officiating. Interment will follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jonathan Bobbitt, Drew Merryman, Tom Burns, Richard Burns, Mike Horton and Greg Smith and as honorary pallbearers, Doug Dillon, Hugh Powell and members of the Northside Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to MDS Foundation or St. Jude's Children Hospital.
