Pocahontas-Basil James Thacker, 84, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Five Rivers Medical Center.

He was born March 26, 1933, in Strawberry, AR, son of Reuben and Josephine Thacker. He was united in marriage to his wife of 61 years, Iva Grace Thacker, on August 28, 1954.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Iva Thacker

He is survived by his children, Jim (Rhonda) Thacker, Debra (Rick) Snow, Barry (Jackie) Thacker, Cletha (Everett) DeJarnette, Phyllis (Craig) Campbell, Gloria Collins, Brian Thacker, JoAnn (Robert) Haddix, and June (Roger) White; grandchildren, Randi (Kent) Winslow, Jerica (Jake Mann) Thacker, Jason (Cara) Nelson, Michael DeJarnette, Brandie (Anthony) Teel, B.J. (Savannah) Thacker, Candice (Clayton) Rice, Brooke Haddix, Mackenzie Haddix, Donnie White, Aaron White, and Gracie White; eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 9, 2017 from 10 am -12 pm at McNabb Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Clements officiating. A graveside service and burial will follow at 1 pm at Smithville Cemetery.
