Obituary

Barry Raymond Shaver, 88, died August 16, 2014 at Stone Oak Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. He was born November 18, 1925 in Randolph County, Arkansas. Ray was a successful jeweler and watchmaker in Northeast Arkansas (Corning and Pocahontas) for many years. He was a veteran of World War II and stayed active as a leader of the VFW honor guard. He was an active member of the Pyburn Street Church of Christ. "Papaw," "Pop", " Uncle Ray" was a wonderful human being and loved by many. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed his friendships and loved being a member of the community. He will be missed and cherished forever in the hearts of his family. Mr. Shaver was proceeded in death by his parents, Luther and Dora, his loving wife, Vera, his siblings, Jewel Dean, Livla, and Ruby and his son, Dave. He is survived by two grandsons, Rob and Rich Shaver; daughter in law, Paula Shaver; niece, Sheila Wilson Glisson, nephews, Don Wilson, Buel Ramsey and L. A. Hayes and their families. Funeral Arrangements: Visitation at McNabb Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday evening, August 19, 5 - 7 p.m., services 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 20 at Pyburn Street Church of Christ in Pocahontas, Arkansas with Dennis McCarty and Harmon Seawel officiating. Burial will be in Corning Cemetery. Pall bearers: Bob Dawson, Tom Towell, Mitch Walton, Byron Futrell, Michael Meredith and Joe Hawkins Honorary pall bearers, Grant Killion, L.A. Hayes, Max Long, Avon McCamey and Bennie Jarrett
