Jonesboro – Barbara Ellain Smith, 76, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House.

She was born November 3, 1947 in Jonesboro to the late Charles Vernon and Mary Elaine Smith. Barbara worked at Arkansas Glass Container Corporation, as a nurses' aide at a nursing home, at Hollingsworth Cleaners, and also at Ron's Catfish. She attended Jonesboro Public Schools and was considered a warm and sweet person by her classmates. She was always generous and loving and would welcome anyone with open arms. She enjoyed watching NCIS and Lifetime movies and playing card and word games.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Russell Smith; step-mother, Dorothy Irene Smith; two siblings, Jan Mitchell and Charles Jr. and two uncles.

She is survived by her children, Catheryn Davis (Scott Moore) of Bay and Justin Wayne Smith of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Autumn Hart of Bay and Michael Grimes of Jonesboro; eight brothers and sisters, Charlene, Regina, Joseph, Douglas, Timothy, Tamara, Kimberly and Mark and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home with Rev. Don Martin officiating. Interment will follow at McDaniel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from noon until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Scott Moore and Michael Grimes.
