Harrisburg- Barbara Dorothy Heckmann, 85, "I went to be with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ," on Friday, January 23, 2015. She was born November 4, 1929 in Lexington, Massachusetts to the late Warren and Dorothy Hadley. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved writing encouraging letters to loved ones, Gospel and Classical music, history and world affairs; horticulture and was a crusader for moral causes. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Harrisburg. Some of her last words were "I tried to see the good in everyone" and "I hope that I left the world a better place because I lived." She is survived by her husband, John A. "Mike" Heckmann of the home; three sons, Carl Heckmann (Joan) of Cadiz, KY, Keith Heckmann (Cathy) of Jonesboro and Philip Heckmann (Debbie) of Jonesboro; a brother, David Hadley (Norma) of Taos, New Mexico; six grandchildren, Kristin Heckmann of Cadiz, Carla Heckmann of Clarksville, TN, Logan Heckmann of Jonesboro, Sara Russell (Stephen) of Bono, Kaitlyn Robinson (Nathan) of Jonesboro and Lindsey Heckmann of Jonesboro; a great-granddaughter due in February, Raylee Faith Russell. A celebration of her life will be 2:00 pm Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with Carl Heckmann officiating. Burial to follow at Willis Cemetery near Harrisburg. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until time of service Sunday at the funeral home. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Carl Heckmann, Keith Heckmann, Philip Heckmann, Logan Heckmann, Stephen Russell and Nathan Robinson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Children's Hospital in Little Rock.
