Jonesboro- On Sunday, July 21, 2019, Austin Rettig, passed away at home, he was 24 years old.
Austin was born on August 22, 1994 in San Marcos, TX to James and Melissa Rettig. He landed a cooking position at the Waffle House in Paragould in 2015. By 2017, he was a full-time freelance entrepreneur. His dream was to own a small engine repair shop. Prior to becoming an Angel, he spent his life bringing joy, love, humor and laughter to many.
Austin Rettig attended the School of Hard Knocks where he learned many valuable life lessons and skills, including sales. Oh, and sprinting, he loved out running men, women, children, and pigs.
Those closest to him would say "whether you loved him or hated him, he would give the shirt off his back to help". He blasted Tech N9ne and Skrillex, but secretly he enjoyed songs like "Barbie Girl" by Aqua. He would say it was to annoy others, but he was like an M\u0026M, had a hard-outer shell and a soft enjoyable center. Of course, he loved eating sweets too; after all, he lived life on the edge! Although good at many things, Austin enjoyed cooking. He was once challenged to create a 10-patty hamburger deluxe, which he had fun accomplishing with pride.
Austin was a lifelong diabetic, shot on multiple occasions, and always stood up against bullies. Those closest thought he was invincible. He always said he wanted to "leave this world bare naked!" Always a man of his words that guy Those that knew him will keep in their hearts forever the abundance of youth within him and the things he still wanted to do, had his life not been cut so short.
Austin is survived by his parents, James and Melissa Rettig of Port Neches, TX; his brother James Rettig of Paragould; a sister Jennifer Marrow of Port Neches; five nieces, and three nephews, including a large extended family.
As per Austin's request, no funeral service will be held. Instead, a Celebration of Life party is being planned.
