Obituary

Arlet (Angel) A. Humes 70, of Ravenden Springs departed this life on February 5, 2024, at St. Bernards Five Rivers Medical Center in Pocahontas.

Arlet was born to the late Syd Humes and Alta Gates Simington on October 16, 1953, in Pocahontas. He loved to hunt mushrooms, products of nature, and was a great hunter of wildlife. He was a free spirit, lived in a cave for many years, and loved his many children and family members. He was an artist who enjoyed painting and drawing, and he made his own walking stick. He enjoyed reading and just loved life. Arlet honorably served his country in the military as a marine, and was of the Christian faith. He was a steel worker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Syd Humes and Alta Gates Simington; brother, Frank Humes and nephews, Mitchell Wagner, and Curtis Humes.

He is survived by his children, Evan Johnson, Caleb Luther, Steven Johnson, James Hufstedler, Charlie Amy (Scott) Vastine, Martha (Nick) Diggins, Zoe (Jon) Hatcher and Valerie Meeker; siblings, William (Tammy) Wagner, Steven (Charlene) Truxler, James (Jennifer) Humes, Joe (Tonya) Simington, Diane (Kevin) Montgomery, Regina (Cliff) Briggs, Amanda Tyler, and Carolyn Humes Hearn; eight grandchildren and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Visitation will be 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024, in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home. Cremation will take place following all services.
