Mrs. Annie Kathryn Smart of Harrisburg, departed this life Friday, May 8, 2020, at her home, at the age of 98.
She was born June 27, 1921 in Sulphur Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Dan Harvison and Ethel Boling Harvison.
She married L.V. Smart in 1936 and they enjoyed 63 years together before his death in 1999. They moved to the Harrisburg area around 50 years ago. She was a homemaker and loved to sew and cook. She also loved singing and attending church at Anderson Tulley Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Dan and Ethel Harvision, she was preceded in death by her husband, L.V. Smart, three daughters, Joan Stevens, Brenda Tucker, and Edith Holcomb, two sons, Eugene Smart and Johnny Smart, two other infant children that died at birth, eight siblings and three granddaughters, Cindy Smart, Donna Ramsey and Virginia Church.
She is survived by four children, Nellie Willis (Sonny), Lynn Smart (Fay), Don Smart, all of Harrisburg, and Eudell Smart (Shiela) of Coloma, Michigan, two sisters, Leona Russell of Jacksonville, AR and Lillian Phillips of Jonesboro, 26 grandchildren, including Barry Tucker who lived with her, and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at 1:00 p.m., at the Carter-Harvison Cemetery near Sulphur Rock, AR, with Rev. Tommy Jacobs officiating. Pastor William Whitlock is an honorary minister. All arrangements are being handled by Gregg-Weston Funeral Home of Harrisburg. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
