Anna Mae Wood Chesser, age 100, passed away on Friday, April 24 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She was born on October 19, 1920 in Morgantown, Arkansas. She was the 8th of 9 children born to Richard and Allie Wood. She graduated from high school in Morgantown and lived there until her first marriage.
Anna, known by Ann, outlived three husbands and even though she had no children herself, she was deeply loved by all her nieces and nephews. She was the favorite aunt' and stayed in touch with cards, phone calls, and visits. Many still have one or more of her paintings hanging in their homes.
Ann was a faithful and loving member of the First Baptist Church of Pocahontas, Arkansas and was a member of the Mary Martha Sunday school class. She loved her adopted' town and many still remember the Kelley's restaurant that she ran until she retired.
Ann will be missed by her family, her church family, and her friends. Her sparking eyes and ready smile will not be forgotten. She lived a life of faithfulness, beauty, resilience, tenacity, and love. Truly she was a part of the Greatest Generation.'
There will be a graveside service in celebration of Ann's life at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Randolph Memorial Gardens with Eric Moffett and Dr. Gary Gregory officiating. All services are under the care of McNabb Funeral Home.
