Anna Louise Dawson, 91, went to be with her Heavenly Father on March 27, 2026, in Springfield, Missouri, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Claude and Anita Cox Cornish on March 20, 1935 in Monette, Arkansas on her family’s cotton farm and was the oldest of 8 siblings. At just 15 years old, she married the love of her life, Clarence Dawson Jr. Together they built their life in Hazelwood, Missouri, where they raised their three children, Carol, Stephen and Brian. Louise completed her High School GED and later continued her education and became an accounting clerk, which she was very proud of. Together, she and Clarence loved playing golf and bowling, visiting flea markets, and traveling. They were members of the Villebrook Baptist Church in Hazelwood for over thirty years. In retirement, they moved to Springfield, Missouri, where she spent the rest of her years near family and wonderful friends.
Lousie was the matriarch of her family. She was independent, loving, feisty and proud of her children, grand, great and great- great grandchildren. She had a gift for mathematics and found joy in creating with her hands by quilting, baking and gardening. She was a master quilter and seamstress, gifting of her quilts to everyone around her. Each quilt was truly a unique work of art.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents Claude and Anita, husband, Clarence, and siblings, Claudette, Margie and Victor. She is survived by her siblings, Karen, Ronnie, and Dennis, her daughter, Carol, and sons, Stephen and Brian, grandchildren: Shannon, Jennifer, Alison, Michiah, Michael, Samuel and Stephanie, great grandchildren: Cameron, Asher, Lilli, Mia, Emma, Gavin, Lucas and Elias, and one great-great granddaughter, Theo. She is no doubt dancing in Heaven with those who went before her and looking down on us with loving eyes as we celebrate her amazing life and the time we were blessed to have with her in our lives.
Services will be held at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Monette, Arkansas on April 18th beginning with visitation at 11:00 a.m., service at 12:00 p.m. and a graveside service and internment at Monette Cemetery immediately following the service.
