Batesville- Anita Sue Perkins Casteel, 52, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021 at her home.
She was born May 15, 1968 in Jonesboro to the late Jimmy and Betty Sue Whited Perkins. She was a 1986 graduate of Westside High School, where she was valedictorian. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Arkansas State University in 1989 and graduated from University of Arkansas Little Rock Law School in 1996. Where she graduated with honors and was editor of Law Review. She worked many years at Snellgrove Law Firm and at The Arkansas Attorney General Office. Since 2001 she has served as an attorney at the Office of Chief Counsel at DHS. She loved cooking, farming, movies, bowling and Rick Springfield concerts. She was an Angel, God shared with us and has called back home.
She was survived by her husband, John Casteel; two sons, Alec Childress of Jonesboro and Jake Leonard of Batesville; a step-son, Jack Casteel of Batesville; a step-daughter, Amy Winfree (Eli) of Rogers; two grandchildren, Darcy Winfree and Aiden Winfree; three brothers, Calvin Perkins (Debbie) of Fayetteville, TN, Robert Perkins (Daphne) of Lorado and Keith Perkins (Renee) of Lonoke; a sister, Donna Woods (Jeff) of Bay and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be 10:00 am Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Bono Church of Christ with Keith Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Cemetery under the direction of Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home.
All attendees must wear masks and observe social distancing guidelines.
