Jonesboro- Alvie "Doug" Dillin, 74, Doug was known for his quick wit, unwavering friendship, and love of teaching passed from this life on January 28, 2023. He was a born again Christian and member of the Church of Christ. Doug was born in Louisville, Kentucky on May 16, 1948 to the late Lacy and Virgie Beach Dillin.

He graduated from Nettleton High School in 1966, Arkansas State University in 1971 with a BSE in Mathematics and earned his Master's in 1973. Doug taught at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway, University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Arkansas State University in Jonesboro before returning to his true love of teaching high school advanced math courses at Lake City High School, Hillcrest High School and McClellan High School. To see his students succeed was his passion. He won numerous awards including Teacher of the Year and Arkansas Outstanding Mathematics Teacher. Doug never mentioned any awards to his family. Upon retirement, He requested no party, he just wanted to pack up and slip quietly out the door, and that is the way his earthly life ended, he slipped quietly out the door.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, George Dillin, Clifton Dillin and Floyd Dillin; a niece, Tara Metheny and a nephew, Russ Martin.

He is survived by his brother, Leon Dillin; sisters, Della French (John), Freda Martin, Alice Vincent (Harvey), Jane Metheny (Dan) and Tammy Tsui (Tony) and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Gregg- Langford Bookout Funeral Home with interment to follow at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Derek George, Clifton Dillin, Jake Algee, Joshua French, Jordan Hudson, Dillin Vincent, Kyle Vincent, and Ethan Harrah.
