Alvie Uhron Brooks Pocahontas - Uhron Brooks, 100, passed away Monday, April 11, 2011, at Pocahontas Healthcare and Rehab Center. He was born January 03, 1911 at Maynard, Arkansas and lived in the Maynard area most of his life and Randolph County all of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas Alfred Brooks and Etta Lou Cull Brooks; his wife of seventy years, Evelyn Marie Ostercamp Brooks and son, Charles Wesley Brooks; four brothers, Ezra Garnet, Earl Ransom, Arlie Emil, and Agra Kenneth Brooks. Five sisters; Letha Ann Brooks, Vada Brooks Evans, Reva Verda Brooks Elkins, Margaret Elgie Brooks Williams, and Ola Mae Brooks. Survivors include his daughter, Margaret Brooks Payne and husband, Jack, granddaughter, Renee Payne Brown and husband, Mike, great granddaughter April Brown all of Collierville, Tennessee. Grandson, Randy Brooks of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, great grandson, Coltyn Brooks, granddaughter, Sherry Brooks Tribble and husband, Dale, great granddaughters, Katrina Snow Richey and husband, Tim, Erika Snow Howard and husband, Adam and great great granddaughter, Hannah Howard all of Pocahontas, special nephew, Waylon Brooks, sister-in-law, Kathryn Dust, other nephews and nieces, relatives and friends. Uhron was a member of the Washington Church of Christ. He was a sawmill worker, row crop farmer, and cattle farmer most of his adult life. He began working on the family farm at the early age of 10, due to his fathers early death. Pallbearers include: Waylon Brooks, Richard Dust, Don Dust, Mike Brown, Coltyn Brooks, and Harold McCurter Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2011 with Harmon Seawel officiating in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maynard Cemetery.
