Pocahontas- Altie Marie Griggs Cox,90, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013. Born January 23, 1923 in Clay County, Arkansas, Altie was born to the late Charles F. And Pearl Griggs. She is preceded in death by her husband W.H. "Baldie" Cox of 59 years, her parents, brothers LeRoy, Gene and Willie Griggs and grandson Michael Johnson. She is survived by a daughter Christine Cox (John D.) Johnson, son William Grigg (Taftnee Smith) Cox, grandchildren Dr. John D. (Kim) Johnson Jr. Of Huntsville, Alabama, Mark C.(Tracy) Johnson of Birmingham, Alabama, William Matthew (Lindsay) Cox of Salem, Arkansas and Amanda Cox (Luke) Snyder of Pocahontas. Great-grandchildren Katelyn, William, Laura, Emory, Elizabeth, John D. "Jack" Johnson III, Erika, Tayor, Julie Snyder, and Cooper Cox. One brother George Griggs of Pocahontas and sister Genevieve Griggs Lindsey of St. Louis, Missouri. Altie Marie was a faithful Christian woman always ready to serve others. She had a devoted love for all children. Her family made her life full, happy and fun! No one could walk into her home without being offered food and something to drink. Altie was a wonderful, caring and loving daughter to her parents of whom she was the care givers for over 20 years. Her works were many and her love was strong for the Lord. Words cannot express the depths of her impact on her family and friends; especially her husband "Baldie" for 59 years. Visitation will be Tuesday July 9, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with Nelson Henderson officiating. Burial followed in Masonic Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of Randolph Home in Pocahontas for their devoted care and service of Altie Marie. Pallbearers will be Dr. John Johnson, Mark Johnson, Luke Synder, Matthew Cox, Taylor Snyder and William Johnson. Honary pallbearers will be George Griggs, Donnie Griggs and Brian Lindsey.
