Obituary

Alta Jestine Crawford, 94, of Pocahontas passed away September 14, 2020 at Randolph Home.

Alta was born April 12, 1926 in Randolph County near the community of Sharum to the late Lone Noel and Willie McDonald Allison.

She was a member of The Red Hats "Frolicking Grannies," the Surridge E.H.C. where she served as President for two years. She was a lifetime member of the Edwin Cripe Chapter #40 D.A.V. Auxiliary holding the position of Commander for several years and State Commander of the D.A.V. for one year. Alta volunteered at the VA Hospital in Poplar Bluff and at Randolph Home as well as for the Red Cross Blood Drive in Jonesboro. She enjoyed sewing, arts, and crafts. She was baptized into Christ in 1949 and has been a faithful member of the Pyburn Street Church of Christ since 1958.

Alta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Otto Crawford; two brothers, Paul and Lowell Allison; one sister, Jenny Wellencamp; one half-sister, Beatrice Murray; one step-brother, Bobby "Jack" Hawkins; two great granddaughters, Brandy DeFir and Maisey Burgess; and three sons-in-law, Ronnie Burgess, Danny Pratt, and Bobby Pratt.

She is survived by her children, Willene Pratt of West Plains, MO, Susan (Graylen) Carmickle of Pocahontas, Deborah Pratt of Benton, Mae Ann Harper of Pocahontas, Peggy (Bobby) Baker of Paragould, Michael Crawford of Paragould, Treasha Burgess of Pocahontas, Melissa (John) Watson of Newport, and Ronnie Crawford of Pocahontas; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Bobbie Jean Weatherford of Burton, MI, and Dorothy Moneyhun of Pendleton, IN; several cousins, aunts, nieces, and nephews, and many friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 20, 2020 from 2-3 PM at Pyburn Street Church of Christ with a funeral service beginning at 3 PM with Joshua Dement officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery under direction of McNabb Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Tony Pratt, Scott Pratt, Dustin Harper, Trent Harper, Brandon Burgess, Jeremy Burgess, Anthony Burgess, and Chris Nelson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Dunn and Wayne Smith.
