Mrs. Alpha Mae "Ann" House of Harrisburg, AR, departed this life Thursday, February 27, 2020, at the St. Bernard\u0027s Hospital in Jonesboro, at the age of 79.
She was born May 21, 1940, in Harrisburg, AR, the daughter of Ralph Goad and Rosie Pullen Goad.
Ann graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1957 and worked for American Greetings in Harrisburg and began as a part-time carrier for the Postal Service. She soon began a full time work for the Post Office and retired after 25 years. She also spent 20 years in service with her husband, state side and abroad. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She married Johnny House on September 6, 1957 and they enjoyed 63 years together.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Goad, Jimmy Goad and Raymond Goad, three sisters, Martha Ellison, Lucille Moore and Dorthy Sears, a daughter, Judy Wade, a granddaughter, Diana Wade and a great granddaughter, April Tena House.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny House, of the home, three sons, Johnny House, Jr. (Jamie) of Imboden, Chris House (Fonda) of Harrisburg, and Johnathan House of Jonesboro, two daughters, Sandy House and Karen Witt (Ronnie), all of Harrisburg, one brother, Charlie Goad (Katherine) of Harrisburg, 17 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, March 2, 2020, at Noon, at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, with Brother Glenn Hurst officiating. Interment will follow in the Arkansas State Veteran\u0027s Cemetery at Birdeye. Friends may visit at the funeral home Sunday afternoon, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Travis Blansett, David McCulley, Billy Sears, Wyatt Goad, Bill Moore, Derek Versie, Jody Burrow and Byron Biggers. Honorary Pallbearer is Aiden Bornhoft. In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorials be made to the American Legion Post 14, Harrisburg, AR.
