Obituary

Alice Fay Goodale (née Lansdale), age 72, of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, in Walnut Ridge. Born on October 7, 1953, in Niles, Michigan, Alice lived a life marked by deep faith, unwavering love for her family, and a joyful spirit that touched all who knew her.

Alice was the beloved daughter of Louie and Alice (Gatewood) Lansdale and grew up surrounded by the warmth of a large and loving family. She carried that same devotion into her adult life, cherishing every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. Her heart was especially full when surrounded by family—her son Gerald (Heidi) Simkins of Walnut Ridge, Arkansas; her daughter Jennie (Hoby) Romine of Williford, Arkansas; her twelve grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She also held close bonds with her siblings: brothers John (Brenda) Lansdale of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and George (Tasha) Landsdale of Portage, Michigan; sister Peggy (Tim) Miller of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and sister-in-law Janice Womack of Walnut Ridge. Her long-time best friend Lisa Goodenough of Kalamazoo remained a constant source of joy and companionship throughout the years. Alice’s extended family included many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who were all dear to her heart.

She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Goodale; daughter Denise Simkins; parents Louie and Alice Lansdale; sister Kathy Cairo; grandson Ethin Romine; and great-grandson Ruger Lassiter. Though their absence was deeply felt during her lifetime, Alice found comfort in her steadfast faith.

A devoted member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Walnut Ridge, Alice placed her trust in the Lord Jesus Christ many years ago. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life—guiding her actions and offering strength through both joy and sorrow. At church she found not only spiritual nourishment but also lasting friendships among “her ladies,” with whom she shared countless hours of fellowship.

Alice had a fierce love for family and friends that radiated through everything she did. She delighted in traveling—especially cruising—and treasured time spent with her precious siblings on adventures near and far. A true enthusiast for all things vintage and unique, she inherited a passion for thrifting from her father. Antique stores, flea markets, and yard sales were favorite haunts where she could spend hours searching for hidden treasures.

Creativity flowed naturally from Alice’s hands as she explored various crafting mediums alongside close friends. Whether making something beautiful or simply enjoying the process together, these moments brought her immense happiness.

Alice’s legacy is one of love—deeply rooted in faith and expressed through acts of kindness, laughter-filled gatherings, shared memories at church pews or craft tables, road trips with loved ones, and quiet moments spent appreciating life’s simple joys.

Her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

Honoring her wishes, Alice chose not to have funeral services choosing to spend her last days simply surrounded by family. Per her request, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gethsemane Baptist Church (PO Box 532, Walnut Ridge, AR 72476) in support of the annual Vacation Bible School, a ministry she dearly loved and enjoyed participating in. May the memory of Alice Fay Goodale bring comfort to those who mourn her passing and inspiration to all who celebrate the beautiful life she lived.
