JONESBORO " Alberta Rogers Daniel, 89, passed peacefully away Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Flo Phil Jones Hospice House. She was born July 28, 1924, in Delphos, Ohio, to the late William Frank Sherley and Dora Ann Cotterel Sherley. She was a member of the Black Water Baptist Church near Manila and enjoyed watching church on TV. She retired from Angled Shirt Factory in Manila and had worked in a garment factory in Blytheville. Mrs. Daniel enjoyed gardening, sewing, traveling and spending time with her grandchildren. Her granddaughter, Kathy Jacks, was her caregiver for two years before she went into the nursing home. She is survived by two sons and their wives, William "Bill" and Lucetra Summitt Jr. of Horseshoe Bend and Odis and Pat Rogers of Palmetto, Fla.; daughter, Frances McLamore of Lawton, Mich.; a brother and his wife, Charles and Virginia Sherley of Sulphur Rock; 24 grandchildren, William Summitt III, Gene Summitt, Amy Crockett, Kathy Jacks, Glen Summitt, Donnie Summitt, Rose Summitt, Garry Summitt, Elizabeth Jones, Christal Clark, Vincent Rogers, Ronnie Rogers, Randy Rogers, Donna Alm, Carol Beasly, Kim Beasly, Steven Beasly, Charlotte Mixon, Diane Bunch, Teresa Metcalf, Wayne Metcalf, Wanita Metcalf, Mary Horton and Karen Standlee; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Milton Rogers and Leo Daniel; two daughters, Lilly Metcalf and Merle McCabe; grandson, Allen Metcalf; three sisters, Jane Robinson, Rose Rutan and Audrey Peterson; and brother, George Sherley. A celebration of her life will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gregg-Langford Bookout Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Old Enterprise Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of service Friday at the funeral home, 300 W. Matthews Ave. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jimmy Woodard, Kris Lamb, Jared Jacks, Elmo Stevens, Josh Scroggins, Garry Summitt and David Willis. Honorary pallbearers will be the doctors and staff of St. Bernards Total Life Health Care. Lasting memorials may be sent to Lighthouse Pentecostal Church in Glencoe or Flo Phil Jones Hospice House.
